Q: Which sailboat one-design classes race regularly?
A: Currently, the Vanguard 15 fleet includes most of the regular racing participants, with boats racing every Sunday and Wednesday. However, all club member boats at the starting line are welcome to race; and if other classes are present with two or more boats, one-design racing for those classes with seprate starts would be conducted, as well. Our schedule.
Q: What special events are scheduled?
A: See Events
Q: Who constitutes the race committee?
A: The Winnetka Yacht Club hires a race committee which runs the summer series races under the supervision and direction of racing club members and uses a club owned committee boat. The Super Sail regatta uses a separate race committee specially selected for that event.
Q: Where do I park?
A: Except for those bringing a boat down to the beach, parking is available in the Winnetka Park District Lot in Lloyd Park, at the top of the bluff above the beach. Street parking is also available. Be certain to heed parking signs, as permits are required in some area. Click to contact the Winnetka Park District for current parking policies.
Q: Is there a Junior Sailing instruction program?
A: There is a Junior Sailing program run by the Winnetka Park District at Lloyd Beach (the location of the Winnetka Yacht Club.) The club is supportive of their Junior Sailing program and encourages participation by junior sailors in club activities, including racing. Click here and go to page 27 for details
